HELPING PROFESSIONALS OVERCOME CRIMINAL CHARGES

Criminal charges can send anyone's life into a spiral, but if you are a professional in the field of medicine, law, finance, or real estate, you may pay an even steeper price than just fines and time in jail. Charges like a DUI, theft crime, drug possession, assault, or sexual misconduct could lead to you losing your professional license and, as a result, your career.

At Head Law Firm, we firmly believe that one mistake, false allegation, or misunderstanding should not put someone's entire life in jeopardy. We work closely with our clients so that we can personally fight to get such charges or convictions reduced, dismissed, or expunged whenever possible. In many cases, our help allows our clients to:

  • Keep their professional licenses

  • Keep their jobs

  • Keep their driving privileges

  • Live wherever they would like

FIGHT FOR YOUR FUTURE

RECOVER FROM A CONVICTION WITH EXPUNGEMENT & DRIVER’S LICENSE RESTORATION

Being convicted of a crime can change a lot, but it doesn’t necessarily seal your fate. In many cases, you may be able to expunge your record and/or restore your driver’s license with the help of an experienced legal team. By doing so, you could be saving yourself from a lot of future stress, as potential employers, landlords, lenders, and other important decision-makers will not see that arrest on your record. To learn whether you are eligible for expungement and/or license restoration in Michigan, we encourage you to give us a call.

PAST SUCCESSES

$770,000 AUTO ACCIDENT SETTLEMENT

Our client, a steel worker, was on his way to work with his crew one morning. As they were driving on the expressway, they were rear-ended by an uninsured driver. The truck our client was riding in flipped several times, and he was very seriously injured. His family contacted The Head Law Firm. We closely monitored his progress and were involved with his uninsured motorist insurance claim from the beginning.

THE INSURANCE COMPANY INITIALLY OFFERED TO SETTLE THE CLAIM FOR $250,000. BECAUSE OF THE HARD WORK, PERSISTENCE, AND THE NEGOTIATION SKILLS OF THE ATTORNEYS AT THE HEAD LAW FIRM, WE WERE ABLE TO NEGOTIATE A SETTLEMENT WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY FOR $770,000! MORE THAN THREE TIMES THE INSURANCE COMPANY’S FIRST OFFER!

TWO FELONY DRUG CHARGES DISMISSED

Our client had two felony drug charges from ten years ago, had skipped bond, and just never took care of them. After getting involved, we quickly discovered that the State did not have the evidence to proceed to trial and win.

AFTER GETTING INVOLVED, WE ULTIMATELY CONVINCED THE STATE TO DISMISS THE CHARGES. THAT SAVED OUR CLIENT APPROXIMATELY $30,000 – IN ADDITION TO HAVING HIS FELONY CHARGES DISMISSED.

FAMILY HOME SAVED FROM FORECLOSURE

A prominent local attorney faced foreclosure and the loss of her family’s house due to complicated legal and financing circumstances.

WE DUG DEEPER INTO THE TRANSACTIONS AND FOUND MAJOR FLAWS IN THE FINANCIER’S RECORD KEEPING AND LEGAL ARGUMENTS. AFTER FILING COUNTER-ARGUMENTS AND SEVERAL MONTHS OF LITIGATION, WE RENEGOTIATED A FAVORABLE RESOLUTION AND SAVED OUR CLIENT’S HOME!

DEFENDING FRIVOLOUS LITIGATION - CASE DISMISSED

Unfortunately, sometimes people file frivolous lawsuits. Recently, our client, a doctor, was sued by her ex-husband’s new wife. It was clear from the start that the lawsuit was filed to harass our client.

WE FILED PROCEDURAL MOTIONS CHALLENGING THE COMPLAINT AND WERE ABLE TO CONVINCE THE PLAINTIFF AND HER ATTORNEYS TO AGREE TO DISMISS THE LAWSUIT.

WORKING TO BETTER YOUR LIFE AS A WHOLE

Choosing your attorney is a big decision whether you’re looking for general advice or you're involved in a serious legal bind. No matter the nature of your case, you deserve a team who understands how important your situation is to you and who is willing to go the extra mile to help you reach your goals.

For you, maybe those goals involve improving or protecting your business. Maybe they have to do with getting through the probate process as quickly and painlessly as possible. Or maybe they revolve around recovering from a criminal charge. Whatever the circumstances, trust that our priority is helping you past any hurdles that stand in your way while coming out better for the experience.

Allow us to give you an example. We once had a client who made the same mistake that so many others have made — she got behind the wheel after having a few drinks too many.

As much as we do not condone drunk driving, we also believe that in this case, the punishment did not fit the crime. Our client was looking at hefty fines and possible jail time for a brief, regrettable lapse in judgment. After reviewing the evidence, we discovered that her arresting officers had skipped a crucial step in the arrest process, which gave us an opportunity to fight for a second chance on her behalf. When it was all said and done, our client’s sentence consisted of paying fines and costs and the case was closed. No jail and no probation. We helped her get counseling and she learned an important lesson without sacrificing a bright future.

How Do I Remove a Criminal Conviction from my Record?

In Michigan, a criminal conviction can be removed from one’s criminal record through the expungement process. When a criminal conviction is expunged, a person can honestly represent to employers and others that they have not been convicted of the expunged crime. Importantly, the expungement process is a privilege, not a right, and certain requirements must be met before a criminal conviction can be expunged.

Can my Spouse and I Share a Divorce Lawyer?

Technically, no. An attorney cannot represent both spouses in a divorce. However, as a cost saving measure when couples agree on property distribution and custody issues, it is possible to have only one attorney involved. That attorney would only represent one party while the other party remains unrepresented. That attorney would file the divorce action and prepare a Consent Judgment of Divorce that would reflect the parties' agreement as made clear to the attorney by his or her client.
